About Mike Sigur

Mike Sigur’s imprint on the City of Kenner is a blend of operational discipline, long-term stewardship, and insistence that government works for the people who rely on it.

A former narcotics officer who rose to Chief Administrative Officer, Mike modernized the Kenner Police Department with state-of-the-art technology and shepherded the building of Kenner’s Police Complex. Mike carried his trademark get-the-job-done mindset into two terms on the Kenner City Council and a year as acting mayor.

First elected to the Kenner City Council in 2014, Mike served eight years, including a year as council president. Mike championed economic development in District 2, helping bring over $50 million in private investment, ridding the district of blighted properties and overseeing the transformation of a dilapidated low-end housing complex into a 15-acre thriving retail center.

Diligent in duties and dedicated to his constituents, Mike was unanimously selected by his council colleagues to serve as acting mayor for nearly a year. In that role, he was far from a seat warmer. Mike restarted the city’s recycling program at no cost to residents, created an Emergency Management Department, and secured millions in federal grants for equipment, operations, and facility hardening. He’s been a champion for quality of life, improving parks and playgrounds, regulating short-term rentals and ride-share operations, and updating development codes so people can use their property responsibly, in the way that works best for them.
